About us

A small history 

 In the beginning we had nearly  15 families in and around Sunderland and Newcastle. As the days went our gathering started to grow. On 30^th October 2004 the members came together at Mr. Biji’s house, and elected Praveen Thomas as the secretary and Mr. Biji  Varghese as the Treasurer.  On January 22^nd  there was a meeting at Mr. Sabu’s house in that meeting we unanimously selected “St. Thomas” as the name for our fellowship.

In our own Words...

During the year we were really blessed to have two of our Metropolitans. On 4^th December 2005 Our Metropolitan  H.G. Dr. Thomas Mar Makarious celebrated the Holy mass, and on 5^th Feb 2005 Thumpamon Diocesan Metropolitan H.G. Philipose Mar Eusebios celebrated the Holy mass. Since our first gathering it is really happy to say that we are growing every month by having our believers attending the mass around the Sunderland area.

The members who are attending the mass are mainly from Sunderland, Newcastle, South Shields, Durham and   Middlesborough. At an average of 40-60 members are attending the Holy mass every month. In relation to our fellowship and our belief the members in Sunderland are conducting regular prayer meeting in every alternate Sundays. We are having a small Sunday school and Mrs. Annamma Philip will be continuing as Sunday School Co-Ordinator.  This will help our children to learn our prayers and traditions specially those who live in a different culture.

Every year the our church is conducting Harvest Festival, Church Anniversary, Parumala Thirumani’s memorial Celebration, Christmas, Good Friday, and Easter Mass etc. A good crowd of  believers and well wishers from in and around North East attended the mass.  

We are glad to announce that we have formed our own parish ad this ceremony will be presided by our Dioceses Metropolitan                              H.G.  Dr. Thomas Mar Makrios on Saturday 5th January 2008.

We are in final stage of filing the charity registration papers. 

We are  planning  to publish a souvenir with our members directory on this occasion.
